Setting up conversion goals

Goals in RightMessage allows you to use data to make smart decisions about your campaign personalizations. Tracking and optimizing your campaign personalizations can increase your traffic, conversions, and profits.

You can set up ‘Goals’ to monitor specific actions a visitor performs on your site, provided the visitor meets the conditions specified in your segment group.

Creating a new goal

There are two ways that you can create a goal in RightMessage dashboard.

You can either click  'Personalize' --> 'Campaign Goals' in the admin bar.

Alternatively go to 'Personalize' --> 'Campaigns' and click the pink ‘ Set Up Goal Tracking’ button to set up a goal for a specific campaign.

If you have not created a goal before, click the ‘Create A Goal’ button on the page. Alternatively, click the ‘+ Create a new goal’ button in the top left of the screen.

Add a name for the goal, and click the yellow ‘Save’ button.

RightMessage will automatically create the new goal and will redirect you to the personalization area for you to begin selecting the events you want to track in your goal.

To add a new conversion event to track, click the toggle arrow icon beside ‘Set Up Conversion Events’.

Select from one of conversions events displayed in the drop down.

Locate and select the area that matches the event you are tracking.

Use the pop up box to add the pages on your site that will be affected by the conversion event. By default, the page you are currently on is automatically selected.

Click the pink ‘+’ to add more pages.

Add the ‘slug’ of the page to the field provided.

Tip: for ‘parent’ pages where there are associated ‘child’ pages, use an asterisk in the slug field. This is called a ‘wildcard’ - e.g. blog/* - where all child pages of the blog page - e.g. blog/member-posts/ - will be affected by the personalization.

To remove a page from the list, click the trash can icon to the right of the page slug.

Publish the new goal.

To make sure your new goal is saved, click the colored ‘Publish’ button in the top right corner of the screen.

Click the ‘RightMessage’ icon to exit the Goal editing area.

Add multiple conversion events.

To add multiple conversion events to your goal, click the toggle arrow beside under ‘Conversion Event’ and click the ‘+ add another conversion event’ button.

Complete the details required and publish to save the changes and add the event to the goal.

Editing conversion events

To review the settings for each event in the goal, click on the event name to show the editing box for that event.

Edit or add more conditions to the tracking event.

Click ‘Publish’ to save the changes.

To delete a event, click the cog/gear icon beside the event name and select ‘Delete Goal Event’

A message will pop up to confirm you want to delete the campaign. Click ‘OK’ to continue.

RightMessage will automatically delete the conversion event.
