Connect Drip to RightMessage
Learn how to connect Drip to your Right Message account so you can personalize your website for subscribers in your email list.
Once you've connected Drip, Right Message will be able to detect if a visitor to your website is a subscriber on your email list, and if they have any tags and/or custom fields associated with their subscriber profile.
You can target elements of your website for subscribers using the below personalizations:
Hide email opt-in forms from subscribers and visitors
A basic strategy targeting visitors based on where they are in the sales cycle
Follow the instructions below to set up your RightMessage account with Drip.
Log into your Right Message account.
To integrate your RightMessage account with Drip, click on the ‘gear’ icon in the top right of the screen and select ‘Integrations’.
Click on the ‘Drip’ tab in the left area of the screen.
Click the ‘Connect With Drip’ button.
Allow access to your Drip account
Log into your Drip account.
Select the website you want to integrate with (if you have multiple sites in your Drip account) and click Authorize.
You will be taken back to your Right Message account. The Drip integration is automatically saved.
To delete the Drip integration, click on the ‘Delete Drip’ button. The settings will automatically be cleared for you.
Set the Drip custom fields to public.
By default, custom field(s) created in Drip are set to ‘private’ and are consequently hidden from Right Message.
As Right Message is not able to see the custom field(s) or its value, any segment created that uses a custom field(s) as a condition, it will return as false and the expected personalization will not display to the subscriber.
To ensure this doesn’t happen, you need to set the applicable custom field(s) to public within your Drip admin area so Right Message can evaluate them.
Log into your Drip account.
Click in the ‘Subscribers’ link at the top of the screen.
Click on the ‘Custom Fields’ link.
For each field you would like to use as a condition in Right Message, click the arrow icon beside the black ‘Edit’ button.
Check the box beside the ‘Make field public via API’ field.
Drip will automatically save the changes for you.
Note: custom field values in Drip are case sensitive. If Drip a subscriber has a custom field “Industry” with a value of “Marketing” assigned to their profile, specifying a condition of “Industry” equals “marketing” in a Right Message segment would return false.
Pass subscriber data to the confirmation page
In order for Right Message to detect if a person who just opted in is now a confirmed subscriber, you will need to check a setting in your Drip form to ‘pass’ the subscriber information to the confirmation page when they click on the link in the confirmation email.
To adjust your Drip form settings to pas the subscriber data, in your Drip dashboard, click the ‘Forms’ link at the top of the screen.
Click on the name of the form you want to edit.
Under the ‘Content’ area of the form, click ‘Confirmation Settings’.
In the ‘Confirmation Settings’, scroll to the bottom of the screen and check the box beside ‘Send subscriber data to post-confirmation page’.
Click the grey ‘Save Settings’ button once you are done.
